Affiliations
Stonewall Democrats of Central Maryland (SDCM) is a dues-paying chapter of National Stonewall Democrats (NSD). The National Stonewall Democrats is a grassroots network connecting LGBT Democratic activists from Seattle, Washington to Austin, Texas to Little Rock, Arkansas to Atlanta, Georgia. With more than 90 chapters across the country, Stonewall is a grassroots force for social change within the LGBT community and within the Democratic Party. SDCM is represented at the national level by Joseph Smith, SDCM VP, who sits on the NSD Leadership Council.
Stonewall Democrats of Central Maryland is NOT an arm or program within the Maryland Democratic Party. While we maintain close ties with Democratic candidates, elected officials, and Party leaders, we operate independently from the Party or any individual campaign. Endorsement and contribution decisions are made at the discretion of the SDCM Board and its membership. Several members of SDCM have been elected or appointed to local Democratic Central Committees and are active in local Democratic clubs. We applaud and encourage this type of participation.
